Mushroom For All

Curated by Mattie O’Callaghan, supported by Kew Garden’s Grow Wild Fund and The Hoxton Trust

Located in Hoxton Community Garden, Mushroom For All is a series of workshops to celebrate and understand the importance of fungi in our gardens, communities and stories. Beginning with a mushroom paper workshop led in partnership with artist Phoebe Hudson (@phoebehudsonstudio), this project aims to connect to the community of Hoxton Garden, but also to invite new visitors to the space through the power of fungi. This workshop was followed by a recipe sharing session and picnic, where the mushroom paper will be made into a collective recipe book built out of local sharings and engagements.

Finally, in collaboration with Susy Langsdale (@queer.as.funghi), we ran a queer fungi walk for 18-25 year olds, where we looked and learnt about the fungi growing around Hoxton Community Garden and Shoreditch Park, exploring how fungi are inherently queer, anti-capitalist and radical collaborators in our earthly networks.

Awarded the Kew Gardens Young Environmental Leader Award. Interview on the project can be found here.
